It’s Double or Nothing for the NYSCWA

ROCHESTER, NY — The New York State Car Wash Association (NYSCWA) headed west on October 30 to visit two exceptional double tunnels here. The “Double or Nothing” Fall Membership Tour & Meeting featured two outstanding sites, a Grab ’N Go lunch at the first stop and pizza and brews at Heroes to finish out the day. A turnout of 60 spoke for itself. “You couldn’t have asked for a better day of carwashing,” said NYSCWA President Walt Hartl. “We were able to showcase two exceptional sites that had our attendees in awe and admiration. You can’t ask for more than that.”

The first stop was the retrofit and reimagined Splash Car Wash in Greece. Formerly a Buckman’s double tunnel, built in 1967, the site sits on 1.5 acres with two 130-foot tunnels featuring a MacNeil tunnel, Sonny’s blowers, as well as Petit and Vacutech equipment. The site boasts 23 self-service vacuum stations, a mat cleaning room and Micrologic controls. The location reopened in June of 2024.

A hearty Grab ’N Go lunch from Pino’s Deli was sponsored by Kleen-Rite Corporation and water was supplied by Splash.

The next double tunnel had to be seen to be believed. Delta Sonic has done it again with its latest site renovation on Henrietta Road. Originally opened in 1986 as an exterior with gas and a small C-store, this beauty now boasts double exterior tunnels with dual 160-foot conveyors, a detailing center, interior cleaning belt and indoor free vacuums for Unlimited members. A three-bay oil change, auto repair center and 14-pump gasoline station compliment the diverse site. A 4,000 square foot C-store that includes a Tim Hortons provides customers with options galore. The site is owned by the Benderson family.

“Touring these two washes was humbling and inspiring,” said Hartl. “We thank Mark Curtis with Splash and Brett and Ron Benderson with Delta Sonic for opening up these incredible washes to our members.”

The annual meeting concluded with a brief business meeting led by Hartl topped off with pizza at Heroes Brewing Company provided by G & G Industrial Lighting and brews compliments of ICS. Two mini tour busses were sponsored by Micrologic.
